Building Committee News

New Ambulance/Fire Department Building

Over the past 20 years Hamilton County as a whole has seen tremendous growth and in 2006 Hamilton County Ambulance formed a building committee. Hamilton County Ambulance Service has increased in size and has currently outgrown their building which was built 30 years ago.

Hamilton County Ambulance, in conjunction with Aurora Fire Department, began talks of constructing a new ambulance building that would connect to the current fire department building and incorporate the additional space needed by both departments. The current plan consists of adding three bays onto the fire department to house additional fire department equipment and vehicles and two additional ambulance bays with offices and living quarters for the ambulance personnel. There is also talks of adding a community storm shelter and a secondary 911 center to benefit the county. The committee is also looking at the future expansion of both departments to ensure future needs are met.

Presently the building committee, with the help of an architectual firm, is in the costing phase. The building commitee is made up of Hamilton County Ambulance personnel, Aurora Fire Department personnel, City, and County Officials. Hamilton County Ambulance Service and Aurora Fire Department have a great working relationship and want to continue this in the future.
